Indy News | Project Censored -- /RENEGADE/

Indy News | Project Censored

RE: [The] /RENEGADE/ “dedicated to spirit, truth, peace, justice, and freedom” site (http://fornits.com/renegade/) is a newsletter of witness, conscience, and activism. Created by *STRIDER*… just some guy that does what he can to fight for justice and stuff; not a professional writer or anything, but seems to have found a nice niche on the net self-publishing activist alerts, an occasional rant or poem, and various compilations.

Protect Whales~ Stop Seismic Testing off the Coast of Central California!

California Coastal Commission: Protect Whales~ Stop Seismic Testing off the Coast of Central California!

Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) is poised to conduct seismic testing in a grid pattern over a large area off the Central Coast of California, from Cambria to the Santa Maria River. Tests could begin as early as November 2012, and last until the end of the year.

The research ship would emit blasts of very loud noise into the ocean.  Streamers a mile or more long would be towed behind the vessel, to pick up the sound waves as they penetrate several miles into the Earth’s crust, and reverberate back to the ocean’s surface.

Tests would last 24 hours a day, for forty days, and would kill or injure marine mammals, including whales, dolphins, porpoises, seals and otters. A deaf marine mammal is a dead one, as this is the sense they rely on to communicate, navigate and find food. Seabirds, fish, and other species such as endangered sea turtles, could be affected as well, with little or no way of mitigating the impacts. Great potential for harm is highly possible to the small populations of whales, dolphins, porpoises, sea lions, harbor seals and sea otters in the Morro Bay area. They are highly sensitive to loud man-made sounds, and vulnerable to forced habitat abandonment, and hearing loss...

Why We Blockade: August 28th TARSANDS Action

Why We Blockade: August 28th Action - YouTube

Published on Aug 28, 2012 by
On August 28th seven brave Texans risked arrest to stop the construction of the Keystone XL pipeline. This land is their home, and this is their story. These interviews were recorded the day before to explain why these people were willing to take this risk to their safety in order defend their homes and neighbors.

On August 9th, in Livingston Texas, the Transcanada corporation officially began construction of the Keystone XL pipeline which will carry poisonous tar sands from Alberta Canada to the Gulf of Mexico despite overwhelming opposition from landowners and concerned residents, but a broad coalition called the Tar Sands Blockade is organizing to stop the violence and defend our homes in the path of this toxic tar sands pipeline.

Ceremony is Not a Crime

Ceremony is Not a Crime - YouTube
After 2 months of public pressure, thanks to people around the world, the US Forest Service agreed to close the McCloud River for the Winnemem Wintu Coming of Age ceremony in June-July, 2012. But instead of protecting us from harassment, Forest Service law enforcement became the biggest harassers, interrupting ceremony every day. By the end of the four days, they had slapped Chief Sisk with citations for federal crimes, with penalties totaling $10,000 in fines or 1 year in jail.
PLEASE HELP Chief Sisk's legal defense by donating any amount you can:winnememwintu.us/citations.

President Obama met with Peruvian President Alan García at the White House on Tuesday amidst growing unrest in Peru over the Alan García government's free market policies that open up indigenous lands to resource extraction. Outside the White House, Hollywood actor Q'orianka Kilcher chained herself to a fence, her body covered in black paint to represent oil.
