Keeping it Clean: 9 Things You May Not Know About Nuclear Power | We M.U.S.T.

Has Climate Change Hit Home for You?

In the past decade the United States has suffered record-breaking heat waves, wildfires, droughts, storms and floods. While no single event can be directly linked to climate change, every one of these is consistent with its models.

You Know About Greenwashing – Now We Have Nukewashing

We need to get off energy sources that emit greenhouse gasses. President Obama says he is prepared to act on climate change. Yet, in 2010 President Obama announced 18.5 billion dollars in loan guarantees for the first new nuclear reactors in the US in 30 years, and then proposed another $36 billion. It appears our President has been Nukewashed.

Nukewashing is what the industry does when it claims that nuclear energy is clean because it releases no greenhouse gasses. Ever since the partial meltdown and release of radiation at Three Mile Island in 1979, the nuclear industry has been like a long-dormant Cicada, waiting for right the time to reappear. Now some claim that nuclear power is part of the solution to Climate Change.

Coalition Against Nukes is now a sponsor in the Forward on Climate Rally being held on Feb. 17th in Washington, DC.
We must be responsible citizens and deliver the message that nuclear energy production is NOT GREEN.
We are asking all who can to come! We need your presence and support there! The more signage and leafletting we bring to educate tens of thousands of people, all the better! The following is the message that the Forward on Climate Rally asks partners to spread:

Forward on Climate
President Obama must move America Forward on Climate in 2013 with decisive action to reduce dangerous carbon pollution. Obama’s legacy as 44th President of the United States of America rests squarely on his leadership in the face of an unstable climate future. Only the President of the United States has the power to lead an effort on the scale and with the urgency needed to phase out carbon-intensive fossil fuels and fire up energy efficiency and clean, renewable energy sources. The first milestone for President Obama is to reject the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline.
