Learning to levitate (cougar photo)

This cougar mom is doing amazing things to reach the beaver carcass up high in the tree. We use frozen beaver carcasses to attract wolverines to our sites, so we can collect their DNA, to study their populations in the Canadian Rocky Mountains. Sometimes other carnivores, like this cougar/puma/mountain lion family, find the bait and try to eat it. This photo was taken using a remote wildlife camera. Learn more about our research at
